🙅♀️🙅 Pessimists
Negative Nancy says - There are already so many tools for this.
Me - Media editing tools are here to stay with more and more creators building a ton of things. Everyone needs images, audio, and video. These tools increase user engagement.
Negative Nancy says - Most of these tools needs some good dedicated infrastructure
Me - That is correct and sometimes there may be a need to install some tools as well. With multiple cloud vendors available, you can just create a virtual machine in less than 5 minutes and start using the dedicated infrastructure.
💡💡 Deep-dive & Some niches
As per the latest statistics, there are 464.7 million podcast listeners globally as of 2023. It is predicted that this number will reach 504.9 million by the end of 2024.
Podcast Membership Platform:
One of the biggest problem for any one running podcasts is finding a way to monetize. People running podcasts will be happy to be part of membership platform that does the heavy lifting for them with respect to getting sponsorships. Create a Podcast Membership platform that offers a powerful toolkit that enables podcast owners to monetize their shows effectively. By offering exclusive content and perks to loyal listeners who become paying members, podcasters can generate a sustainable income while fostering a dedicated community. In addition to revenue generation and increased engagement, Podcast Membership Platforms can also offer valuable analytics and data insights. These analytics enable podcasters to better understand their audience, gain insights into member behavior and preferences, and make informed decisions to enhance their content and offerings.
Podfan and Glow are a few products in this space.
Podfan has reached 1000+ users. Glow: Founded in 2019, it received $2.3M in funding and was acquired by Libsyn.
Listen App is another example in this space (not just for monetising but for handling the events, building relationships with audience and engaging fans)
Generate Content from Podcast:
Creating content from the podcast is a huge task to manually listen and create a text transcript in place. Create a Micro SaaS solution to solve this issue. The SaaS product should be able to take the Podcast and generate content, transcripts, readily publishable blog posts, and clips from the podcast content. A SaaS product that can leverage the Podcast as an audio source and generate content from it, by converting it into readable text, will help in creating content for any website. The product should also be able to generate blog posts, and clips from the generated transcripts. This is the fastest way for podcast creators and website owners to create content for their websites. Poddin solving a similar problem got 7 paying customers in less than 1 month. Poddin made is really special niche tool with features like Speakers Detective, Filler Words Remove, Profanity Filtering, Transcript Player, etc.
There are players adding AI flavor to this conversion to make the output content better and built ‘AI-based tool for converting Podcasts to blogs and social media posts’.
Examples of some players in this space: Dubb, VoicePen, Podium
VoicePen reached $1,600 in revenue with 65 customers within 30 days of launching.
Marketplace for Podcast Sponsorships:
Obtaining sponsorships for podcasts can be quite challenging, especially if you don't have extensive connections within your podcast's niche market. It can also be a time-consuming process, requiring significant effort and networking. By building a micro platform dedicated to facilitating connections between brands and podcasters, the process becomes much simpler and more efficient. Such a platform streamlines the sponsorship-seeking process, allowing podcasters to find suitable advertisers and vice versa. This eliminates the need for extensive networking and reduces the time investment required to secure sponsorships. Create a Micro Platform that makes it easier for brands and podcasters to connect. Note that building marketplaces takes a lot of time but once it works, you will have an exponential growth. Podcorn is one of the examples of Influencers marketplaces. Podcorn was founded in 2018, it was acquired in 2021 with an upfront cash payment of $14.6 million.
Podcast Guest booking platform:
Starting a Podcast is easier these days with so many tools available. However, to sustain a podcast over the long term, it's important to consistently book speakers or guests for each episode and coordinate their involvement in the podcast events. This process involves multiple rounds of communication, discussing dates and topics, sending reminders, confirming participation, and doing some preparation work. To simplify this entire process, create a Micro SaaS (platform that handles all these tasks within a single, easy-to-use platform. This platform can also go a step further by providing a way to find and connect with speakers who are interested in discussing specific topics. By utilizing such a platform, speakers can easily browse through available podcasts and express their interest in participating by sending connection requests. Similarly, podcast owners can pitch their podcasts to potential speakers, providing an opportunity for collaboration. For inspiration, see PodBooker.
Some other examples are Podhash and PodcastGuests that are quick and simple directories that lists the podcasts and speakers.
Podhash: received $230K in funding.
PodcastGuests : Got 40,000 users and was acquired in Jan. 2023
Simple Audio to ‘full subtitles text and video with a picture backdrop’:
Build a micro saas tool that can take just audio and a picture as input. Once the audio is uploaded, the tool should convert the audio into text (using audio to text converters like AWS Transcribe or Google Cloud Speech to Text API). Now once the text is available, create a video that shows the uploaded image along with moving subtitles text as audio progress in the video. This can be improved by adding a translator and converting the same video into multiple languages (for subtitles part).
