Issue#7: Building $1K-$10K MRR micro saas products around Airtable ecosystem
No fluffy content. If your goal is to build a $100m ARR business, this is not the right post. Here I am are NOT going to talk about building the next Facebook or Twitter. If your goal is to make a $1K to $10K MRR, continue reading.
This post will cover one SAAS area and talk about multiple niches in this space. This post also explains more on how to do tech implementation, do market analysis, how the current players are doing, and also ends with a cost analysis to understand the overall cost for 100 users.
For starters - Airtable is a mix of a database and spreadsheets. Airtable comes with a ton of APIs to read, write, update, and search the records. Negative Nancy says: Google sheet already exists for a long time.
Me: Data speaks. Airtable is growing at an exponential rate and has raised a $185 million Series D funding round, putting the company at a $2.585 billion post-money valuation
Negative Nancy says: This involves platform risk.
Me: There is a platform risk because there is a platform. Having a platform means “finding users more easily”.
Some niches
Airtable to website : Creating a website from Airtable data is one of the best niches at the moment. Typically to display the data on a data-rich website, you would need a database to store the data. But here, this micro saas idea would be to create a small saas tool that takes the data from Google sheets and creates a website out of this data. For example, create a base in Airtable and create multiple tables that hold the data of the website configurations. Then render website pages based on this Airtable data and configurations. See profitable products like Siteoly, Pory for inspiration.
Embed Airtable data to external sites: Another micro saas tool around Airtable would be to provide an embed script that pulls data from Airtable tables and displays that data on external sites in the form of beautiful cards. This should work on all external sites like normal HTML sites along with WordPress, Carrd, Wix, Squarespace sites as well. Often people using sites like WordPress find it extremely tough to display data from external sources in beautiful card format. Create a micro saas that provides an embeddable script that pulls data from Airtable and displays it on the website.
Send personalized emails and text messages from Airtable: Create a micro-saas tool that reads the Airtable data and lets users send personalized emails and text messages. For example, create an Airtable table with users' email and/or phone numbers. The tool should let users compose a message in a rich text editor with placeholders (or variables like %name% or %phonenumber% etc). Now read the sheet and loop through the rows and send the message to all users. Integrate this with various communication forms like email, Whatsapp, SMS, etc. See PostSheet for inspiration.See 10 additional niches to try around Airtable related microsaas products (Pro version)
